Growing up I always had a passion for working with children, music and the outdoors. I had a vision to create a safe space where children could fully express themselves without restriction of judgement.
Being free to spend the majority of my days outside amongst the trees provided me the opportunity to not only creatively play, but the rhythm of nature taught me how to breathe and ultimately regulate my emotional output. Plus, digging deep and playing with the Earth is always fun, regardless of age!
Over the years I lost touch with my inner child. Life got busy and with that I found an emptiness inside. I forgot the little things that meant so much to me. Playing in the dirt until dark being one of them!
In 2004 I graduated with a certification in Early Childhood Education, and I began my journey understanding mindfulness, self-awareness and self-love. I realized that as adults we also need tools to help us self-regulate, to breathe and to find calmness in our every day. I started practicing mindfulness which led to finding balance, and it wasn’t long before I started to feel alive again! Suddenly everything from my childhood in nature came flooding back to me and I found my renewed purpose in life. Being of service and inspiring others to work with their own innocent joy of mindful, creative expression.
The time has arrived and I am so honored to work with every one of you. Together in collaboration we can share an environment and community for collective healing.

Throughout my life I have always gravitated towards activities that allow me to invest in and
develop relationships, as I know this is what fulfills me. Humans are social beings after all, who
are hard-wired for social connection, and I have been lucky enough to have the gift of
connecting with people ever since I was a child.
After dabbling with different types of work, I realized my passion for working with young
children. Their ability to soak up knowledge with enthusiasm and curiosity invigorates my own
zest for life! In 2010, I completed my diploma in Early Childhood Development from Grant
Since then, I have had the privilege of working with families and children from a wide variety of
backgrounds and circumstances. Some of this work has connected me with inner city families,
military families and newcomers to Canada. I have also worked in child protection, which was
both challenging and rewarding. Throughout this work, I have certainly witnessed and
experienced the negative effects of long term stress. I have also come to respect the
incredible, boundless strength and potential of the human spirit.
My experiences over the past decade have led me down a path of self discovery, initially
prompted by a desire to learn about stress and how to better manage it within my own life. I
began my journey toward achieving my yoga teacher training. I started practising yoga, and
over time, began searching for a deeper connection with myself, something that I realized had
taken a backseat to my innate ability to connect with others. This led me to discover
meditation and to reconnect with the importance of play as an adult. I also discovered the
significance of nature, within which these traditional practices are typically interwoven.
As a result of my training to date, I have come to appreciate the innate wisdom of the body and
the power of mindful embodied emotional experience in promoting mental wellness and
building strong stress resilience now and later in life.
Collectively, these experiences have culminated in a shared passion for educating young
children about the benefits and practice of yoga and meditation. By providing these tools
during development, we enable our children to connect deeply and meaningfully not only with
each other, but also with themselves. Because the gift that every child really wants is the gift of
feeling connected, loved and valued.
I hope to spend the next chapter of my life sharing these holistic lessons through early
childhood education, helping to build a happy and healthy next generation in both body and
mind. I am truly honoured to be a part of the Mindful Expressions team and I look forward to
meeting you and your little ones at our centre!
Cassandra – ECE
I grew up as an only child in Yorkshire, UK and as long I can remember I had a longing to be around children. In 2001, I gave birth to my first child, and I decided that I wanted to work with children as I had the passion, patience and I enjoyed being around them. I wanted to make a difference in their lives and have the ability to provide them with what they needed at a young age to develop in a healthy thriving environment.
I opened my own centre and began to complete my Level 4 Early Childhood Education. I worked with children with special needs as well as high risk child protection families, I wanted to make a difference in their lives.
In 2012 my husband, three girls and I decided we wanted to relocate to Canada. We arrived in Kelowna and immediately fell in love with the climate, the surroundings, and all that it has to offer for us. I knew I wanted to get back teaching the little ones, so I started working in various childcare centres. In 2015 I met Crystal and I began working at Expressions Daycare, and we formed a wonderful friendship and working relationship.
I understand what it takes to be present for children, and how to create a meaningful connection where children are socially and emotionally supported. I incorporate creative hands on learning whilst bringing nutrition and mindfulness together to give children the healthiest start in their early years. I am beyond excited to be a part of the evolution into Mindful Expressions. Come play with us!
